ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University honors former Texas House Speaker with Dade Phelan Building

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University hosted a naming ceremony event on Thursday, Feb. 12 to honor Former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Dade Phelan, for his transformative contributions to the university during his tenure as a member of the Texas House. The Dade Phelan Building, formerly known as the Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship, establishes the building as a landmark of significance on the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University campus.

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the prestigious 2026 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention, marking its 12th appearance at the event and celebrating the ensemble’s excellence with a free local preview concert ahead of the statewide performance.

The University Press is one of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ’s showpieces. It is the largest student-run business on campus, and it has become one of the most respected student newspapers in the country. Since 1977, the University Press and its magazines have garnered more than 1,200 awards, including first place for Best Non-Daily Student Newspaper in 1994 and 2005 from The Associated Press Managing Editors of Texas and first places in many other competitions.
