Dr. Corcoran's research examines the intersection of educational leadership, law, and the legal literacy of educators at all levels. Her scholarship focuses on how school leaders understand and apply constitutional and statutory principles when making decisions that affect students, employees, and school communities. Of particular interest is the preparation of educational leaders to recognize legal issues and translate legal knowledge into sound leadership practice.
Her recent work examines First and Fourteenth Amendment issues in schools, including principal candidates' perceptions of their preparedness to address constitutional rights, equal protection, and emerging legal challenges. This work builds upon her doctoral research examining teachers' legal literacy in Texas and reflects her broader interest in strengthening the connection between school law, leadership preparation, policy, and educational decision-making.
