Our dedicated committees play a vital role in enhancing the university experience for all staff members. Each committee focuses on specific areas of interest and works collaboratively to foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment. Explore the various committees below!

Community Service

The Community Service Committee encourages volunteerism by coordinating charitable projects and organizing Staff Council involvement in events such as awareness fundraisers, Homecoming activities, the Staff Appreciation Luncheon, and other service initiatives. Their work strengthens community engagement and promotes a culture of giving among university staff.

Staff Awards Ceremony

This committee manages all aspects of the annual Staff Awards Ceremony, from establishing the planning timeline to securing a venue, coordinating with Human Resources, and confirming participation from university leadership. They verify service-year information, send campus invitations, coordinate vendors for awards and materials, arrange photography and mascot appearances, and oversee Distinguished Staff Award nominations. The committee also prepares certificates, schedules volunteers, and ensures Posthumous Service Awards are appropriately presented, creating a meaningful event that honors staff contributions.

Staff Social Events

The Staff Social Events Committee plans social and networking opportunities that build camaraderie and unity among staff. Their events highlight Staff Council's appreciation for staff and create opportunities for connection across departments.

Student Success

The Student Success Committee supports student engagement by organizing or volunteering at major student-centered events, including Fall Welcome, Homecoming, and spring programs. Their involvement reinforces Staff Council's commitment to student success and community spirit.

Communications

The Communications Committee shares updates and promotes Staff Council activities through newsletters, announcements, marketing materials, website updates, and other publications. They ensure staff remain informed and connected to Council initiatives.

Staff Relations

This committee focuses on staff well-being by addressing safety, health, wellness, and environmental concerns. They facilitate open communication through mentorship and town hall opportunities, research staff issues, and recommend solutions to improve the campus work environment.

Nominations

The Nominations Committee manages the full election process for Staff Council membership and officer positions in accordance with Bylaws. They coordinate nomination forms, ballots, and vote tallies; announce results; and create promotional materials for the nominations drive. Committee members do not run for officer positions during their service, ensuring a fair and transparent process.

Operational Support

The Operational Support Committee oversees governance by reviewing and updating Bylaws, ensuring adherence to established procedures, and guiding amendment processes. Once revisions are approved, the committee distributes updated Bylaws to all members. Their role supports smooth, consistent, and well-structured Council operations.
